What is a Representation Agreement (RA)?

A Representation Agreement is an important part of your estate documents. It allows you to appoint someone (known as a representative) to act on your behalf with respect to medical decisions should you be alive but unable to do so.

What does it include?

The document can include stipulations about no life support, no resuscitation etc., if you wish. It specifies your wishes should an accident or other event leave you in a position where you are unable to make medical decisions on your own behalf.

Why is it important?

Having a Representation Agreement not only protects your wishes, but also greatly benefits your family members. Should you become incapacitated, it outlines exactly what steps to take, which can take a huge amount of pressure off your loved ones who would otherwise have to make those decisions on your behalf.
